Why Highland Cattle?

This photogenic breed is also one of the earliest breeds of cattle, dating back to the sixth century, where they thrived in the rugged Scottish Highlands.   Today, the breed is characterized by traits of hardiness, self-sufficiency and longevity.  

Maternal Traits

Highland cattle are a rare combination of exceptionally calm and strongly protective of their young.  Nearly all Highland calves are born unassisted

Climate Controlled

The double hair coat allows these cattle to perform in all climates while their excellent foraging skills allow them to thrive in all conditions.

Heritage Traits for Modern Consumers

Perhaps due to their thicker coats, Highland cattle naturally maintain a smaller fat cap - allowing for less trim and higher yields for the producer.
Highland beef is consistently more tender, higher in protein and iron, and lower in cholesterol than commercial beef.
