Why Myotonics?
This unusual breed, also known as the Tennessee Fainting Goat, traces it's roots back to the 1800's, when it was noticed that goats with a genetic condition for prolonged muscle tenseness when startled led to increased muscle mass. The breed is currently listed as "recovering" by The Livestock Conservancy.
Content to Stay PutThere's no denying - fainting goats just don't like climbing or jumping, and even if a gate is left open, their excitement stops them in their tracks before they get too far!

Meat Quality & YieldMyotonics don't technically faint - their muscles tense and stiffen suddenly, which can cause them to fall over. The regular sudden tensing of those muscles lead to tender meat & increased yields. Studies show myotonics yield up to 10% more meat than other breeds, pound for pound.
